How to Resize an Image

Need to resize an image? ToolifyPDF is a free online image resizer for JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF files that works right in your browser. Set a width and height in pixels, centimeters, or inches, make an image smaller or bigger by percentage, or shrink it to a file size such as 100 KB, and keep its aspect ratio so it never looks stretched: type the width and the height is filled in for you. Resize one picture or up to 50 at once with the bulk image resizer, and download them all in a ZIP file. No app to install, no account, and no watermark.

Pixels or Percentage

Type a width and height in pixels or scale images from 1% to 500%. With "Keep aspect ratio", type one side and the other is filled in for you, so images never look stretched.

Same Format

FAQ

How do I resize an image?

Upload your image to ToolifyPDF, choose "Exact Dimensions" or "By Percentage", enter the size you need, and click "Resize". Then download your resized image. It works in any browser, with no app to install.

Can I resize many images at once?

Yes. The bulk image resizer lets you resize up to 50 images at once, each up to 200 MB, with the same settings. All resized images are downloaded together in one ZIP file.

How do I resize an image for social media?

Enter 1080 as the width with "Keep aspect ratio" on: your photo becomes 1080 pixels wide and keeps its shape, the width most social networks use for posts. If you need an exact square (1080×1080), crop the photo to a square first with Crop Image, then resize it here.

Will my image be stretched?

Not with "Keep aspect ratio" on (the default): the image keeps its shape and fits inside the width and height you enter, so one side can come out smaller. Turn it off to get exactly the width and height you typed; the image is then stretched if its shape is different.

How do I make an image bigger?

Choose "By Percentage" and enter a value above 100, for example 200 to double the size, up to 500%. Keep in mind that enlarging a small image can't add new detail, so very large increases can look blurry.

Can I resize an image to 100 KB or another file size?

Yes. Choose "By file size", type the size (for example 100 KB, 50 KB, or 2 MB), and click Resize. The image is saved at the best quality that fits, and only made smaller in pixels if quality alone isn't enough. Each image keeps its format.

Can I resize an image in inches or centimeters?

Yes. Choose cm or inches next to the width and height, and set the DPI (300 for printing, 72 or 96 for screens). For example, 10×15 cm at 300 DPI gives 1181×1772 pixels. The DPI is saved in the image, so it prints at the size you chose.

Does resizing an image reduce its quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp, because only extra pixels are removed. Making it much bigger can make it blurry, because the missing detail can't be invented. JPG and WebP images are saved again after resizing, which slightly changes them, while PNGs stay lossless.

How do I resize images on Windows, Mac, iPhone, or Android?

Open ToolifyPDF in Chrome, Safari, Edge, or any modern browser on your Windows PC, Mac, iPhone, or Android phone, select your images, and click "Resize". You don't need to install an image resizer app.

Which image formats can I resize?

You can resize JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF images, and each one keeps its original format. Animated GIFs keep their animation.

Can I resize an animated GIF?

Yes. Every frame is resized, and the animation keeps its speed and loop. You can also resize a GIF to a file size: it's made smaller in pixels and colors until it fits.

Advanced Features

Beyond basic resizing, our image resizer offers several useful features:

  • Exact Dimensions: Enter the precise width and height in pixels.
  • Percentage Scaling: Make images smaller or bigger, from 1% to 500%.
  • Keep Aspect Ratio: Type the width and the height follows (or the other way around), so images keep their shape.
  • Bulk Resizing: Resize up to 50 images at once and download them in a ZIP file.
  • Rotate Before Resizing: Turn any image the right way before resizing it.
  • Format Kept: JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF images keep their format, PNG transparency is kept, and animated GIFs stay animated.

💡 Pro Tip

To get both a small size and a light file, resize first, then compress. A phone photo is often 4000 pixels wide, much more than a website or an email needs. Reduce it to around 1600 pixels wide here, then run it through Compress Images.
